In honor of my becoming a Bat Mitzvah, please join me in my campaign to create a rehabilitative garden at Shalva!
Shalva provides services for thousands of children with disabilities and lends support to their families. My immediate and extended family have been supporting Shalva’s important work for many years, so when I visited the Shalva Center, I felt a strong connection to it as soon as I walked through the doors. The biggest impression that Shalva had on me was that it is a place bursting with happiness and warmth, and I could tell that all the children love being there.
The money I raise - thanks to your generosity - will help launch Shalva's rehabilitative gardening program and will be geared toward children ages 4-6 with and without disabilities. The children will participate in weekly gardening sessions. The sessions will be guided by a rehabilitative gardening instructor and Shalva's therapists who will help the children plant and maintain the garden by themselves. Shalva explained to me that gardening helps children develop sensory and cognitive awareness, teaches them about life cycles in nature, and builds skills like teamwork and patience.
I chose to raise money for this specific project because my Hebrew birthday is two days after Tu B’Shvat. I am excited that we found a way to connect my Bat Mitzvah to an organization I care so much about and is very meaningful to me.
